The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested four individuals in connection with cattle rustling and car theft in Hadejia town.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Shiisu Lawan, announced the arrests in a statement issued on Sunday in Dutse.
According to him, officers from the Hadejia Area Command intercepted a 47-year-old man on September 18 at the Kwanar Bazawarai area of Hadejia with two bulls suspected to have been stolen. The suspect, who hails from Garin Mutumdaya village in Kirikasamma Local Government Area, was taken into custody, and the animals were recovered.
Lawan added that investigations into the case are ongoing, and efforts are underway to track down the suspect’s accomplices.
In a related development, three other suspects were apprehended on September 17 in Hadejia for allegedly stealing a vehicle. The car was recovered in good condition, and the case is under investigation. The police confirmed that the suspects will be prosecuted once investigations are concluded.
The Commissioner of Police in Jigawa, CP Dahiru Muhammad, commended the officers for their vigilance and dedication to tackling crime. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to strengthening patrols, raids, and surveillance operations to curb criminal activities in the state.
Muhammad also urged residents to remain law-abiding and to provide the police with credible information that could help prevent and detect crimes.
