Shakira and Burna Boy Unveil Official FIFA World Cup Song “Dai Dai”

Abuja, May 15, 2026 Colombian music star Shakira has released a new single titled “Dai Dai,” selected as an official song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in collaboration with Nigerian Grammy-winning Afrobeat artiste Burna Boy.

The track was announced on Friday via Shakira’s social media platforms, where she expressed excitement over the release and its link to the upcoming tournament.

The song is now available across major streaming services, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and Amazon Music.

In her post, she wrote: “Dai Dai is here. The @FIFAWorldCup 2026 starts now!”

The world football governing body, FIFA, also confirmed the release in a statement on its official X page, noting that the song was produced in partnership with Sony Music Latin.

According to FIFA, “Dai Dai” reflects the energy, passion and unity associated with the global football tournament and is part of efforts to promote the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.

The fund is targeting $100 million by the end of the tournament to support access to quality education and football opportunities for children worldwide.

FIFA added that proceeds from the song will contribute to the initiative, with Shakira donating her royalties while Sony Music will match the first $250,000 raised with an additional contribution.

The lyrics of “Dai Dai” focus on themes of determination, ambition and global unity, while also referencing several football icons such as Pelé, Diego Maradona, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and others.

The song also mentions a range of football-playing nations, including Brazil, Argentina, France, Germany, Spain, the United States, England, Mexico, Japan and South Africa, among others.

Shakira’s involvement marks her return to the World Cup music stage, following her globally successful tracks “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” for the 2010 South Africa tournament and “La La La” for the 2014 edition in Brazil.

Burna Boy’s participation also represents a significant milestone, making him one of the few Nigerian artistes featured on a FIFA World Cup soundtrack, following Davido’s appearance on the 2022 official song “Hayya Hayya (Better Together)” alongside Trinidad Cardona and Aisha.

FIFA further disclosed that Nigerian Afrobeats star Rema will perform at the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Cup in Los Angeles, United States, scheduled for June 12.

The tournament will begin on June 11, with the opening match between Mexico and South Africa at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
