Lokoja, May 15, 2026 The Academic Board of Kogi Polytechnic, Lokoja, has approved the withdrawal of 229 students following their failure to meet the institution’s required academic standards.
The decision was reached during a board meeting held on Tuesday and chaired by the Rector, Prof. Salihu Avidime, according to a statement issued on Friday by the Acting Coordinator of Public Relations and Protocols, John Onimisi.
The meeting, which had in attendance principal officers, deans, heads of departments and other board members, reviewed key academic issues across the institution.
During the session, the board also approved the first semester results for the 2025/2026 academic session after a detailed review process.
The polytechnic explained that the results were validated following a comprehensive verification exercise carried out by the Academic Board Central Results Verification Committee.
The committee examined submissions from various departments and schools to ensure accuracy, fairness and compliance with academic regulations.
The affected 229 students are drawn from National Diploma I and II, as well as Higher National Diploma I and II programmes across disciplines such as Accountancy, Business Administration, Computer Science, Mass Communication, Public Administration, Science Laboratory Technology, Building Technology and others.
The institution said the full list of affected students has been made public.
Prof. Avidime commended the verification committee for its thoroughness, noting that its work had helped reinforce academic standards and protect the credibility of certificates issued by the institution.
The board stated that the decision was taken in line with existing regulations and in the interest of maintaining academic excellence.
It added that the measure was also aimed at promoting discipline, seriousness and improved academic performance among students.
