Birnin Kebbi, May 15, 2026 The Kebbi Hisbah Board has taken into custody a married woman and five other individuals following a raid on a hotel over alleged breaches of moral conduct.
According to a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi on Friday by the Director of Shariah at the board, Sirajo Kamba, the operation led to the arrest of three men and three women.
Kamba explained that the operation was carried out after the agency received intelligence reports regarding suspicious activity at the facility.
He said Hisbah officers stormed a hotel located behind the Presidential Lodge, where the individuals were allegedly found engaging in acts considered inappropriate under the board’s guidelines.
He added that preliminary findings indicated that one of the female suspects is a married woman.
Investigations into the matter are currently ongoing, and appropriate measures will be taken in line with established procedures, he stated.
Kamba noted that the incident highlights the importance of moral discipline and adherence to religious values within society.
He also called on parents and guardians to pay closer attention to the movements and behaviour of their children in order to discourage actions that could undermine community standards.
