Bolaji Ogunmola Slams Social Media Critic, Hints at Taking Break

Actress and filmmaker Bolaji Ogunmola has expressed frustration over online criticism, hinting that she may step back from social media to focus on her career.

Ogunmola reacted strongly to a comment from a social media user who criticised her on-screen chemistry with co-star Daniel in her recent movie, The Bloom After. The user suggested that the frequent kissing scenes between the pair were excessive and could lead to real-life romantic feelings. The comment also questioned why she did not share a similar scene with another co-star, Anthony, and referenced the relationship between actors Yul Edochie and Judy Austin.

Responding, Ogunmola defended her professionalism and dismissed the insinuations, stating that she does not maintain personal relationships with her co-stars outside work. She expressed displeasure at what she described as attempts to reduce her performance and the film’s message to romantic scenes.

The filmmaker stressed that The Bloom After goes beyond romance, explaining that the story centres on a woman rediscovering herself after dedicating her life to a cause she believed in. She urged viewers to focus on the film’s deeper message about self-worth and personal growth rather than speculating about actors’ private lives.

Ogunmola also noted that the nature of online commentary has made her reconsider her presence on social media, as she intends to channel more energy into her professional commitments.
