The Lagos State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, has called on residents to embrace the values of prayer, sacrifice and compassion as Christians and Muslims observe the sacred seasons of Lent and Ramadan.
In a statement released on Wednesday in Lagos, Ojelabi described the period as a time for sober reflection, spiritual renewal and recommitment to selfless service.
He said the twin observances offered an opportunity for individuals of both faiths to deepen their relationship with God and strengthen their dedication to humanity.
Ojelabi encouraged Christians to use the Lenten season to draw closer to God, cultivate humility and prepare meaningfully for the celebration of Easter, urging them to remain steadfast in faith and good works.
He also urged Muslim faithful to observe Ramadan with sincerity, devotion and discipline, expressing hope that their fasting, prayers and acts of charity would be accepted and rewarded.
The APC chairman appealed to adherents of both religions to take advantage of the holy seasons to pray for lasting peace, unity and socio-economic progress in Lagos State and across the country.
According to him, collective commitment to love, tolerance and mutual respect remains vital for building a harmonious and inclusive society.
He added that Lent and Ramadan underscore shared moral values that bind Nigerians together, irrespective of religious differences.
