The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has awarded full scholarships to 1,000 students, valued at over ₦800,000 for each beneficiary.The scholarship scheme was officially launched on Saturday at Bayero University in Kano. Senator Jibrin, who was represented at the event by Senator Sumaila Kawu, stated that the initiative is designed to alleviate the financial barriers to education faced by young people and to improve their access to quality learning.Emphasizing that education remains his foremost priority, Senator Jibrin explained that the program reflects his commitment to securing Nigeria’s future by empowering its youth through education. He urged the selected students to view the scholarship not merely as financial aid, but as a call to service and a pursuit of academic excellence.In addition to the scholarship, each beneficiary received a sum of ₦20,000 from Senator Kawu to cover transportation costs.The initiative was commended by the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Atah, who described it as an exemplary act of public service and encouraged other public officials to follow suit.The Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Professor Haruna Musa, also praised the intervention, noting its timely and transformative potential for the recipients.Two of the beneficiaries, Fathiyya Musa and Hauwa Abubakar Ibrahim, expressed their gratitude in interviews and pledged to utilize the opportunity to its fullest.This scholarship program aligns with the objectives of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes advancements in education, infrastructure, healthcare, economic growth, and national security.
