Police Arrest 2 Suspects over alleged armed robbery, murder

The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two individuals suspected of involvement in a case of armed robbery and attempted murder in the Bera Estate, Chevron area of Lekki, Lagos State.According to a statement issued on Saturday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the suspects, identified as Mathew Adewole and Mukhtar Muhammad, were apprehended on September 11th in the Na’ibawa Quarters area of Kano.SP Kiyawa stated that during interrogation, Mathew Adewole confessed to orchestrating an attack on a resident of Bera Estate, known as Lil-Kesh, on August 19th. The assault resulted in severe injuries to the victim, including a deep laceration to his neck. The suspects subsequently coerced the victim into transferring the sum of ₦2,120,000 from his bank account to an account belonging to Mukhtar Muhammad.The arrest was achieved through enhanced intelligence gathering and community collaboration, a strategy aligned with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun. SP Kiyawa emphasized that the command is committed to strengthening its intelligence capabilities and fostering strategic partnerships through community policing initiatives.The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Mr. Ibrahim Bakori, commended the operatives for their diligence and thanked the public for their cooperation. He reassured residents of the command’s continued dedication to ensuring safety and security across the state.
