Kwara Appoints Prof. Ademola Alabi as Thomas Adewumi Teaching Hospital CMD

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has approved the appointment of Professor Ademola Popoola as the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the newly designated Thomas Adewumi Teaching Hospital in Omu-Aran.This announcement was confirmed in a statement released on Saturday by Mrs. Hamdalat Saad, Press Secretary for the Kwara State Ministry of Health.The statement indicated that the appointment follows the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Kwara State Government and Thomas Adewumi University, Oko. This agreement officially transitions the General Hospital in Omu-Aran into a teaching hospital for the university.Responding to the development, the Kwara State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina El-Imam, stated that Professor Popoola’s appointment is a strategic measure by the state government to provide visionary leadership. She noted that this leadership is essential for steering the hospital toward global standards in medical training, research, and healthcare delivery.Dr. El-Imam further described the initiative as a bold step that will foster the development of the university’s medical training programs and enhance access to quality healthcare services for the residents of Kwara State and neighboring regions.“With this appointment, the Kwara Government has once again demonstrated its dedication to building a healthier, stronger, and more prosperous future for its citizens,” she said.
