The Tinubu Media Force (TMF) has appealed to the United States to partner with President Bola Tinubu’s administration in advancing Nigeria’s reform agenda rather than promoting inaccurate narratives about the country.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Lagos, the group’s National Coordinator, Mr. Gbenga Abiola, said the Tinubu government has remained steadfast in efforts to stabilise the economy, strengthen national security, and rebuild international confidence in Nigeria.
He urged the U.S. and other global allies to engage Nigeria through constructive dialogue aimed at deepening democratic and economic cooperation instead of issuing divisive or negative statements.
According to Abiola, Nigeria remains the pillar of stability in Africa, and its peace and progress are essential to the continent’s collective development.
He added that President Tinubu’s leadership had set the nation on a trajectory of renewal and sustainable growth through the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Abiola explained that although the administration inherited deep-rooted socio-economic problems, it has taken bold steps to reverse years of poor governance through decisive policy reforms.
He highlighted improvements in national security, better intelligence coordination, and increased welfare for security personnel.
Citing official figures, Abiola said security forces have neutralised more than 6,200 terrorists, apprehended about 14,000 suspects, and rescued roughly 5,000 kidnapped victims within two years.
He further noted that Nigeria’s defence budget rose from ₦1.25 trillion in 2023 to ₦4.91 trillion in 2025 — the highest in the nation’s history — while annual police recruitment tripled from 10,000 to 30,000 officers to enhance community policing and internal safety.
According to him, these measures have significantly reduced coordinated attacks and banditry in the North-West and North-Central regions.
Abiola urged the U.S. to recognise these achievements and avoid comments that could distort Nigeria’s image abroad.
He dismissed claims of targeted killings of a particular religious group as false and divisive, stressing that no credible evidence supports allegations of a Christian genocide.
All violent acts in the country, he said, are treated as national crimes without ethnic or religious bias, adding that the government has not introduced any policy promoting sectarian persecution.
Abiola emphasised that Nigeria’s unity and progress are rooted in its diversity and that this strength continues to uphold its democracy and national development.
He cautioned that any effort to destabilise Nigeria could endanger the entire African region’s peace and prosperity and called on ECOWAS and the African Union to defend the continent’s sovereignty against external misinformation.
Abiola reaffirmed that Nigeria, as Africa’s largest nation, merits respect and genuine partnership from the international community, noting that a stable and thriving Nigeria remains crucial to a secure and prosperous Africa.
