The Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board has encouraged Christians to participate in pilgrimage to Jerusalem, describing it as an opportunity for spiritual renewal and deepening of faith.
A delegation of four officials, led by the Board Secretary, Dr Gbolabo Okudero, made the appeal on Sunday during a sensitisation visit to St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Amje, in the Diocese of Lagos West.
Okudero explained that the pilgrimage programme is open to church groups, civil servants, corporate organisations and members of the public, with a participation fee of N3.2 million.
He also urged Christians to pray consistently for peace in Jerusalem and to intercede for an end to ongoing tensions in the region.
He encouraged believers to remain spiritually prepared for what he described as a season of organised visits to the Holy Land, covering Israel and Jordan, noting that preparations for the exercise are already underway.
According to him, sustained prayer is essential, not only after conflicts escalate but also as a preventive spiritual measure aimed at averting further crises in the region.
The presiding priest of the church, Ven. Moses Akinlola, commended the initiative and expressed appreciation to the delegation for the awareness visit. He also offered prayers for the success of the programme and its participants.
