Oniru Renews Call for #LeGIT Development at Sixth Coronation Anniversary

The Oniru of Iruland, Oba Omogbolahan Lawal, has reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the #LeGIT (Let’s Grow Iruland Together) development agenda as he marked six years on the throne.

The monarch spoke in Lagos during activities commemorating the sixth anniversary of his coronation, highlighting his vision of transforming Iruland into a modern, inclusive and economically vibrant kingdom.

According to him, the #LeGIT initiative is focused on aligning the kingdom’s development with Lagos State’s growth trajectory while promoting environmental sustainability, innovation, technology and global competitiveness.

Oba Lawal said the long-term objective is to build a resilient community that offers opportunities for residents and ensures prosperity for future generations.

Reflecting on his reign since ascending the throne in 2020, the traditional ruler noted that significant progress had been recorded in areas such as cultural preservation, institutional development, community empowerment and economic growth.

He explained that strategic collaborations and a clear development framework had helped position Iruland as a centre for enterprise, innovation, culture and sustainable urban development.

The monarch also stressed the importance of unity among residents and stakeholders, urging continued cooperation to accelerate the kingdom’s growth and achieve its development goals.

While acknowledging milestones achieved over the past six years, he maintained that greater opportunities still lie ahead and called for sustained commitment to collective progress.

Oba Lawal expressed appreciation to God, his forebears, the people of Iruland and various stakeholders for their support throughout his reign.

He also thanked the Lagos State Government, members of the Oniru-in-Council, traditional chiefs, community leaders, residents and development partners for their contributions to the kingdom’s advancement.

Special recognition was given to his wife, Olori Mariam Lawal, and members of his family for their unwavering support over the years.

The anniversary celebration attracted prominent personalities, including traditional rulers, religious leaders, senior security officials and other distinguished guests.

Several groups and associates presented goodwill messages and tributes in honour of the monarch, acknowledging his leadership and contributions to the development of Iruland.

Among those who paid tribute were members of Cadet ASP C/19/1996 of the Nigeria Police Force, who congratulated Oba Lawal on the milestone and praised his successful transition from public service to traditional leadership.

The event concluded with prayers, Quranic recitations, cultural displays, music performances and other activities celebrating the monarch’s six years of service and leadership in Iruland.
