ADC Cuts Nomination Fees, Unveils Updated 2026 Primaries Schedule

The African Democratic Congress has reduced the cost of its presidential nomination form to N90 million and issued a revised timetable for its 2026 primary elections.

The party, which initially fixed the presidential form at N100 million, announced the adjustment following consultations with stakeholders, including party leaders and aspiring candidates across the country, according to its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi.

Under the new fee structure, governorship aspirants will pay N30 million, Senate hopefuls N10 million, House of Representatives candidates N5 million, while State Assembly aspirants will pay N2 million. The party also maintained its concession policy, offering a 50 per cent reduction for youths aged 18 to 35, and a 25 per cent discount for women and persons with disabilities.

The updated schedule shows that the sale of nomination forms will run from May 1 to May 4, while submission of completed forms is set for May 6 to May 13. Screening of aspirants will take place on May 14 and 15, with results expected on May 17. Appeals are scheduled for May 18 and 19, and the final list of cleared candidates will be released on May 20.

Primaries for State Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate will hold on May 21, followed by governorship primaries on May 22. The presidential primary is fixed for May 23, while party meetings, including the National Executive Committee session, will follow on May 25, ahead of the Special National Convention on May 26, 2026.

The party said the adjustments were made after wide consultations aimed at promoting internal democracy, inclusiveness, and broader participation in its electoral process.

It urged all aspirants to adhere strictly to the timetable and guidelines as preparations continue toward the 2027 general elections.
