Rep. Kabiru Maipalace (PDP–Zamfara) has launched the distribution of food items to 2,000 households in Gusau and Tsafe Local Government Areas of Zamfara as part of his grassroots economic support initiative.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Maipalace, who chairs the House Committee on Sports Development, represents Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency.
Speaking during the exercise in Gusau on Monday, the lawmaker said the initiative was designed to improve the welfare of residents, especially the most vulnerable.
Represented by his Secretary, Mustafa Hassan, Maipalace said the intervention was a response to the current economic challenges affecting many families across his constituency.
He explained that each beneficiary would receive a 50kg bag of rice and a packet of spaghetti.
“We procured thousands of assorted food items to make life easier for my constituents,” he said. “Our target is at least 2,000 households from Gusau and Tsafe LGAs.”
According to him, the beneficiaries include vulnerable individuals, low-income families, youths, women’s groups, as well as political, religious, and community leaders.
“This initiative is part of my commitment to boost the socio-economic wellbeing of the people I represent,” Maipalace added.
Some beneficiaries, including Salamatu Ishaq and Aminu Muhammad, expressed appreciation to the lawmaker for his continued efforts to ease the economic burden on households.
