A Yobe-based development advocate, Alhaji Kashim Tumsah, has announced a total cash prize of N1.5 million for three outstanding students who excelled at the 2025 TeenEagle Global English Championship in London. The recipients — Nafisa Abdullahi (17), Ruqayya Fema (15) and Hadiza Kalli — are students of Nigeria Tulip International College, Mamudo. Representing Nigeria, they outperformed more than 20,000 competitors from 69 nations, excelling in debate, English language proficiency, and creativity, earning top honours in the contest.Speaking to journalists in Damaturu on Tuesday, Tumsah, who is also a lawyer and diplomat, revealed that each of the students would receive N500,000 along with a brand-new laptop.“We celebrate these three brilliant Yobe students — Nafisa, Ruqayya and Hadiza — for bringing glory to Nigeria at the TeenEagle Global English Championship. Their success reflects discipline, academic excellence, and the untapped potential of Nigerian youth, especially from the North-East,” he said.Tumsah credited their achievement to consistent investment in education in Yobe under the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni, noting that the Governor’s reforms have significantly improved the state’s learning environment.“This remarkable feat is a proud moment not only for Yobe but for the entire country. It demonstrates what is possible when young talent is given the right opportunities,” he added.Earlier this year, Tumsah also rewarded 29 Yobe students who scored 300 and above in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) with N100,000 each.
