Police Nab Seven Suspects, Recover Gun in Ogun

A series of police operations across Ogun State has led to the arrest of seven individuals linked to various criminal activities, including armed robbery, burglary, theft, conspiracy, and public disturbance.

The Ogun State Police Command disclosed the development on Friday through its spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi.

According to him, the suspects were apprehended during intelligence-led operations conducted by officers attached to the Sango-Ota, Owode-Egba, and Agbado Divisions.

Babaseyi stated that officers from the Sango-Ota Division arrested three suspects identified as Pelumi Akintonde, 21, Mojeed Sanusi, 28, and Mubarak Lateef, 17, in connection with an alleged armed robbery incident in the Alasia community.

Investigators said the suspects were allegedly involved in an attack on a resident during which personal belongings and valuables were forcibly taken away.

During the operation, police recovered a locally made pistol and a spent cartridge. Efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend other members of the suspected robbery gang who remain at large.

In a separate operation, operatives of the Owode-Egba Division arrested 22-year-old Damilare Makanjuola over an alleged burglary and theft case reported in Ofada.

Preliminary findings reportedly linked the suspect to several break-in incidents within Sun City Estate, where household appliances, cash, and other valuables were stolen from residents.

The police spokesperson further revealed that two other suspects, Tijani Jubril, 28, and Ezra Modi, 22, were taken into custody over allegations of conspiracy and theft at Treasure Island Estate in Awo Village.

The duo was reportedly intercepted while attempting to sell electrical appliances suspected to have been stolen from a residence within the estate.

Recovered items were found intact, while investigations suggested that the property had been unlawfully accessed before the theft occurred.

Babaseyi also disclosed that officers attached to the Agbado Division arrested Waris Adebesin, 22, for allegedly causing unrest and making threats of violence around a secondary school area.

A knife was recovered from the suspect at the time of arrest, and police said swift intervention helped avert a potential security incident in the community.

All seven suspects remain in custody as investigations continue, with authorities working to determine the full extent of their alleged involvement in the various offences.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the officers involved in the operations and acknowledged the role of residents whose information contributed to the arrests.

The command reiterated its resolve to intensify efforts against criminal activities and maintain a safe environment for residents throughout the state.
