The First Lady of Anambra State, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has underscored the vital connection between healthy eating and overall well-being, describing proper nutrition as the cornerstone of a productive and vibrant society.
Soludo, who is also the founder of the Healthy Living Initiative, made this known in Awka during the 2025 World Food Day commemoration, themed “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future.”
World Food Day, celebrated globally on October 17, highlights the importance of sustainable food systems and collective action toward ending hunger.
“Good food is the bridge between sound health and a better future. The body is a reflection of what it consumes. Healthy eating fosters vitality, while poor diets undermine well-being,” she said.
She noted that food should not merely satisfy hunger but also serve as nourishment and medicine, stressing that “good food equals good life, and a healthy life shapes a strong future.”
According to Soludo, the Healthy Living Initiative’s focus on nutrition has already inspired more mindful eating habits and improved food choices across Anambra communities.
She restated her commitment to promoting safe, nutritious, and locally sourced foods that support family health and sustainable development within the state.
“As we mark World Food Day, let us remember that the meals we prepare today shape the strength of tomorrow. Choosing healthy food is choosing life,” Soludo said.
