President Bola Tinubu arrived in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), on Sunday to attend the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), scheduled to commence on Monday.
The President’s aircraft landed at the Presidential Wing of Zayed International Airport at about 11:30 p.m. local time.
Tinubu was received by the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, and the UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Salem Saeed Al-Shamsi.
Also present at the airport were Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, as well as members of the Nigerian diplomatic mission in Abu Dhabi.
Several Nigerian officials, including the Minister of Budget and Planning, Atiku Bagudu, welcomed the President at his hotel. Others were the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole, and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
Tinubu arrived from Europe, where he held consultations with Rwandan President Paul Kagame and French President Emmanuel Macron.
The 2026 ADSW, themed “The Nexus of Next, All Systems Go,” is focused on sustainable development, climate action, energy transition and inclusive growth.
The visit highlights Nigeria’s commitment to global sustainability discussions and efforts to deepen diplomatic and economic relations with the UAE.
