Shettima heads to WEF with Nigeria’s 2026 economic outlook

Nigeria’s Vice-President, Kashim Shettima, is set to outline the country’s 2026 economic direction at the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) taking place in Davos, Switzerland.

A statement from his office confirmed that Shettima has already arrived in Davos, where he is leading Nigeria’s delegation to the high-level global economic gathering.

The Vice-President was welcomed on arrival by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; the Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole; alongside officials from Nigeria’s diplomatic mission.

During the forum, Shettima is expected to take part in plenary discussions focused on the responsible use of artificial intelligence, advancements in quantum computing, and developments in biotechnology.

He will also engage in a series of bilateral meetings with world leaders, business executives and international development finance institutions aimed at strengthening partnerships in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The forum also marks a significant moment for Nigeria’s economic diplomacy with the official launch of Nigeria House Davos.

For the first time, Nigeria has established a sovereign pavilion on the Davos Promenade, created through a public-private partnership, to serve as a platform for ministerial engagements, investor roundtables and cultural exchanges throughout the week.

Speaking on the initiative, Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole, said the country would use the inauguration of Nigeria House to highlight key investment opportunities.

She noted that Nigeria would present sector-focused playbooks outlining ongoing economic reforms, with emphasis on solid minerals, climate-smart agriculture, the creative industry and the digital economy as priority areas for global investors.
