Rainy Season: FRSC Urges Anambra Drivers to Replace Worn Tyres, Faulty Wipers

Motorists in Anambra State have been advised to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy as heavy rains continue to affect driving conditions across the region.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in the state, Bridget Asekhauno, gave the warning on Wednesday in Awka, noting that rainfall increases the danger on roads.

She explained that wet surfaces often become slippery, making it easier for vehicles to lose traction and harder for drivers to maintain control.

Asekhauno expressed concern over the continued use of worn-out tyres by some motorists, stressing that such tyres significantly reduce grip and increase the likelihood of skidding, especially during braking.

She urged drivers to reduce speed when roads are wet and to exercise greater caution behind the wheel.

The sector commander also advised motorists to carry out regular vehicle checks, including inspecting tyres and ensuring proper oil and water levels.

She further warned against driving under the influence of alcohol and encouraged drivers to pull over safely when rainfall becomes too intense and visibility is compromised.

She reiterated that adherence to safety measures and proper vehicle maintenance remain crucial to reducing road crashes during the rainy season.
