Police Rescue Three Kidnap Victims After 40 Days in Captivity in Kaduna

Kaduna, June 6, 2026 – The Kaduna State Police Command has successfully rescued three kidnapped victims who were held for over 40 days and arrested five suspected informants allegedly linked to a kidnapping network operating in the state.

This was disclosed in a statement on Saturday in Kaduna by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan.

Hassan said the rescue operation was executed by a joint security team comprising operatives from Fushin Kada and the Divisional Police Officer in Hunkuyi, following sustained intelligence gathering and coordinated surveillance activities that led officers to a suspected bandits’ hideout.

He explained that the kidnappers fled upon sighting the advancing security operatives, abandoning the victims, who were safely rescued without injuries.

The rescued individuals were identified as Ekechikwu Omale, Ummi Salisu from Kudan Local Government Area of Kaduna State, and Pastor Daniel Tanko Bawa of Tufa Village in Niger State.

According to him, the victims were taken to a police medical facility for examination and treatment before being reunited with their families.

Hassan added that five suspected informants were apprehended during the investigation, noting that preliminary findings indicated they provided intelligence and logistical assistance to the abductors.

He stated that the suspects reportedly admitted involvement during interrogation.

The Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State, Rabiu Muhammad, praised the synergy, professionalism, and commitment displayed by the security teams during the operation.

Muhammad reaffirmed the command’s resolve to intensify efforts against kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.

He also called on residents to support security agencies with credible and timely information, stressing that community cooperation remains vital in tackling insecurity.

The police commissioner confirmed that investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the criminal syndicate and ensure all those involved face justice.
