Police Arrest Six Over Tricycle Theft, Recover Stolen Property in Kano

The Police Command in Kano State has arrested six suspects in connection with theft and receiving stolen property.

The command’s spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday in Kano.

Kiyawa said five of the suspects were arrested following a report of a stolen tricycle at Panshekara Quarters in Kano. He added that the stolen tricycle, valued at ₦3.5 million, was sold to one Umar Dahiru for ₦2.6 million, making him the sixth suspect.

According to the spokesperson, the suspects also confessed to stealing another tricycle, which was sold to Dahiru for ₦2.7 million.

He said two tricycles and a horse purchased with proceeds of the crime were recovered during the operation. Dahiru reportedly admitted to buying the tricycles despite knowing they were stolen.

Kiyawa stated that the recovered tricycles had been returned to their rightful owners.

He added that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Ibrahim Bakori, has directed a thorough investigation to ensure the suspects are brought to justice.

The command reassured residents of its continued commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
