Ambassadors Comprehensive College Wins 12th Winifred Awosika Foundation Schools’ Challenge

Ambassadors Comprehensive College clinched top honours at the 12th Winifred Awosika Foundation Schools’ Challenge in its debut appearance.

The competition, hosted by Chrisland Pre-Degree College, featured 17 schools from Lagos and Ogun states.

Participants competed in Stage One written tests and Stage Two quiz rounds before an audience of teachers and supporters.

Ambassadors Comprehensive College scored 40 points to emerge winner, defeating eight finalists. Redeemers International Secondary School came second with 36 points, while Crescent International Schools placed third with 35 points.

Students competed in Mathematics, Sciences and General Knowledge, receiving gifts in their respective categories.

Other schools that participated included Grace School, Edidot College, Albesta Academy and L.H.S College.

Also in attendance were Greenfield Comprehensive College, Christ the King School, New Gate College and The Potters Land School.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Olusegun Ogunsola, Executive Head of Schools (Academic), Chrisland Schools, said the foundation was established to broaden its impact beyond school ownership and create more opportunities for young learners to excel.

According to him, the initiative of Winifred Awosika promotes healthy competition, collaboration and global engagement.

“This 12th edition is a masterpiece. The Foundation sustains healthy competition, unites brilliant learners and nurtures global citizens,” he said.

Guest speaker, Mr. Babasola Titus, Lagos State Coordinator of National Examinations Council (NECO), described examinations as a process of testing knowledge and proficiency. Represented by NECO official Adetoun Adejobi, he emphasised that examination preparation begins from the first day of resumption.

Mrs. Juliet Udo, Head of School, Chrisland Pre-Degree College, described the 12th edition as a significant improvement, noting that the winning school demonstrated strong preparation and determination.

She added that the competition stretched students beyond the classroom, encouraging research and awareness of current affairs, while urging parents to monitor screen time.

Other participating schools included UNILAG International School, Fountain Heights Secondary School, Caleb British International School, Whitedove Schools and Dansol High School, which received consolation prizes.
