PCRC Applauds PSC, Nigeria Police for Transparent Recruitment in FCT

Abuja, April 14, 2026 — The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) has praised the Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force for what it described as a transparent and inclusive ongoing recruitment exercise.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by PCRC spokesperson Olayemi Esan, the committee’s National Chairman, Alhaji Ibraheem Olaniyan, made the remarks during an inspection visit to the recruitment centre in the Federal Capital Territory.

Olaniyan described the screening process in the FCT as open, fair, and participatory, noting that PCRC is actively involved in monitoring the exercise across the country in collaboration with the PSC and other relevant stakeholders.

He said this marks the first time the commission has formally integrated the PCRC into the recruitment process, describing it as a positive step toward improving accountability and strengthening public confidence.

He further explained that the involvement of zonal and FCT PCRC officials, senior police officers, and civil society representatives is intended to ensure fairness and safeguard the interests of local applicants.

According to him, the arrangement will help reduce irregularities and ensure that recruitment opportunities allocated to FCT indigenes are not diverted to candidates from other states.

Olaniyan expressed optimism about the calibre of applicants, describing them as highly promising and possibly “among the finest set of police constables” the country has produced.

He congratulated the candidates in advance and urged them to remain focused as they progress through the screening stages.

He also commended the Inspector-General of Police for efforts aimed at improving the welfare and professional development of junior officers, noting a renewed focus on grassroots personnel.

The PCRC chairman further applauded the PSC for approving the large-scale recruitment of 50,000 constables at once, describing it as an unprecedented initiative in the history of the force.

He expressed confidence that the exercise would produce disciplined and capable officers who would strengthen internal security across the country.
