NYSC Concludes Orientation Exercise for 1,953 Corps Members in Bayelsa

Kaiama, Bayelsa State, May 12, 2026 The National Youth Service Corps has concluded the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II orientation programme in Bayelsa State, with 1,953 corps members successfully completing the 21-day exercise.

The closing ceremony was held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Kaiama, located in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, where participants were encouraged to maintain discipline and dedication throughout their service year.

Governor Douye Diri urged the corps members to make meaningful contributions during their deployment in Bayelsa and across Nigeria by demonstrating patriotism, commitment and hard work.

Represented by the Executive Assistant to the Governor on NYSC Matters, Mr Wisdom Poyeri, the governor advised them to approach their Places of Primary Assignment with seriousness and use their knowledge and skills to positively impact their host communities.

He also encouraged the corps members to promote unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence wherever they are posted during the one-year national service programme.

According to Diri, the Bayelsa State Government remains committed to supporting corps members and ensuring their welfare and security throughout their stay in the state.

The governor further urged participants to apply the lessons and experiences gained during the orientation course in ways that would benefit society and inspire others.

He reminded them to uphold good conduct and remain worthy representatives of their families, schools and the NYSC scheme while serving the nation.

The event formally brought the orientation exercise to a close as corps members prepared to begin their primary assignments in different communities across Bayelsa State
