The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has advised prospective corps members deployed to Osun State for the 2026 Batch A Stream II orientation exercise to avoid travelling at night for safety reasons ahead of the programme scheduled for April 22.
The advice was given in Osogbo by the NYSC State Coordinator, Ita Kubiangha, through a statement issued by the scheme’s spokesperson, Catherine Otemuyiwa.
He encouraged corps members to plan their journeys during daylight hours and make use of recognised motor parks, while also calling on transport unions in the state to support their movement to the orientation camp at approved fares.
Kubiangha noted that the three-week orientation course will run from April 22 to May 12, with the swearing-in ceremony slated for April 24.
He warned that night travel exposes corps members to avoidable dangers such as road accidents and security risks.
Parents and guardians were also urged to support their wards as they begin the national service programme.
The coordinator further advised corps members to comply with all safety instructions and remain vigilant throughout the period, reiterating the scheme’s commitment, alongside relevant stakeholders, to their welfare and security.
