NIPR Hails Tinubu’s Support for Hosting World Public Relations Forum in Abuja

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has expressed excitement over the assurance by Bola Tinubu, President of Nigeria, to support the successful hosting of the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) in Abuja.

The President of NIPR, Ike Neliaku, made this known during a webinar organised by the institute to mark the 2026 International Women’s Day on Saturday in Abuja.

no fewer than 3,000 participants from about 126 countries are expected to attend the forum scheduled to hold in Abuja from Nov. 15 to Nov. 21.

The event will feature side attractions aimed at showcasing Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage, unity in diversity and cherished national values.

According to Neliaku, the forum is also expected to boost Nigeria’s economy, tourism, hospitality sector, cultural exchange and professional networking.

He quoted the president as promising to declare the event open and ensure that Nigeria delivers what he described as the biggest, brightest and boldest edition of the WPRF.

“President Tinubu, being a key player in the Nigerian media industry, understands the value of what we have.

“He has deep knowledge of communication and understands clearly what this forum means for Nigeria and Africa,” Neliaku said.

He also commended the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, for the institutional support the institute has received under his leadership.

In his remarks, President of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, Justin Green, lauded NIPR for its efforts in preparing to host the global event.

Green said the webinar demonstrated the institute’s commitment to promoting inclusiveness and gender sensitivity.

He also expressed optimism that the November forum would mark the unveiling of the world’s first sector-based public relations university and become historic in terms of participation and content.

Also speaking, the African Union Special Envoy on Women, Peace and Security, Liberata Mulamula, urged public relations professionals to use their platforms to shape narratives that influence society and highlight the roles of women in peace and security.

Mulamula emphasised that empowering women remained one of the most effective tools for national development, stressing the need for communication strategies that advance women’s rights, challenge stereotypes and counter misinformation.
