The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted hazy and sunny weather conditions across the country from Wednesday to Friday.
NiMet’s weather outlook, released on Tuesday in Abuja, forecast sunny and hazy skies over the northern region throughout the period.
According to the agency, the southern region will experience generally sunny conditions with patches of clouds, while isolated thunderstorms accompanied by light rainfall are expected later in the day over parts of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states.
“For Thursday, sunny and hazy skies are expected over the northern and central regions, while the southern region will experience sunny skies with patches of clouds.
“Thunderstorms with light rain are expected during the morning hours over parts of Ogun, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states.
“Later in the day, thunderstorms are anticipated over parts of Ondo, Ogun, Imo, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Bayelsa states,” the agency said.
NiMet forecast that on Friday, the northern region will experience sunny and hazy conditions in the morning, with dust haze expected during the afternoon and evening hours.
The central region is expected to have sunny and hazy skies throughout the period.
In the southern region, cloudy skies with sunny intervals are expected in the morning, while isolated thunderstorms with light rain may occur later over parts of Anambra, Imo, Abia, Edo, Bayelsa, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Rivers states.
NiMet warned that dust particles are currently in suspension over the North-Central region and advised residents to take necessary precautions.
The agency urged people with asthma and other respiratory conditions to be cautious, advised motorists to drive carefully during rainfall, and encouraged airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports for effective flight planning.
