Udenwa, Ihedioha Lead Fundraiser as ADC Raises N219.7m in Imo

Former Governors of Imo State, Chief Achike Udenwa and Chief Emeka Ihedioha, alongside other party leaders, have raised N219.7 million to support the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state.

The funds were generated during the party’s stakeholders’ meeting held in Owerri on Tuesday.

Speaking at the event, Udenwa described the ADC as the foremost opposition party in Imo State, noting that the funds would be deployed to strengthen the party’s structures and activities across the state.

He commended party members for their loyalty and commitment, which he said had earned Imo State significant recognition within the party at both zonal and national levels.

Udenwa expressed confidence that the ADC would defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at both the state and national levels.

“Even if we are seen as underdogs, we will put the ruling party where it belongs after the elections. We are determined to uproot the APC,” he said.

Also speaking, Ihedioha praised the state chairman of the party, Prof. James Okoroma, and his executive team for providing effective leadership, and urged members to intensify their support for the party.

In his remarks, Okoroma said the meeting was convened to enable party leaders to assess challenges ahead and chart strategies for future success.

He expressed optimism that the ADC would record major victories in the 2027 general elections at both state and national levels, urging party members to remain committed to what he described as their constitutional duty to remove the APC from power.

“We will remove them from power. It is a generational task. It will not be easy, but it is a constitutional responsibility we must fulfil,” Okoroma said.

The party also formally received new members from other political parties during the meeting.

Among those welcomed were Chief Paul Mbadiwe, son of the late First Republic Minister of Aviation, Kingsley Mbadiwe, as well as several chieftains from the Labour Party and other political groups.
