Nigerian Army Deploys Modern Technology to Tackle Emerging Security Threats — COAS

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Shuaibu Waidi, has said the Nigerian Army is deploying available resources and modern technology to counter emerging security threats and enhance safety across the country.

Waidi made this known on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State at the Government House in Minna.

He explained that the renewed strategy was designed to boost the operational effectiveness of troops and ensure a proactive response to evolving security challenges nationwide.

According to the army chief, his visit to Niger State was to formally declare open the 2026 Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Conference, as well as to commence an operational tour of key military formations within the state.

Waidi said the operational visit would include the 31 Artillery Brigade and the 18 Brigade in Bida, as part of efforts to address prevailing security concerns in some parts of the state.

He noted that the visit would allow the army to assess existing operational gaps and provide additional resources needed to strengthen ongoing military operations.

The COAS described Niger State as familiar terrain to him, stressing that sustained collaboration between the military and the state government remained critical to achieving lasting peace and stability.

He thanked the state government and residents for the warm reception accorded him and expressed confidence that increased cooperation would further enhance security in the state.

In his response, Governor Bago, represented by his deputy, Yakubu Garba, commended President Bola Tinubu for his continued support to Niger State during challenging periods.

The governor also appreciated the National Security Adviser and other security chiefs for their commitment and support in tackling the state’s security challenges, while wishing the army leadership a successful engagement.Tools
