A technology-focused non-profit organisation has unveiled plans for its annual summer programme aimed at equipping girls with artificial intelligence (AI) knowledge, digital literacy and other future-ready technology skills.
The announcement was made by Yemi Odutola, External Relations Lead of the Women Technology Empowerment Centre (W.TEC), who said the 2026 edition of the She Creates Summer Camp would provide participants with practical exposure to emerging technologies in an engaging and interactive environment.
According to him, this year’s programme is designed to expand on the success of previous editions by combining technology education with innovation, creativity and experiential learning.
Participants are expected to take part in hands-on training sessions focused on AI and other in-demand digital skills, alongside excursions, arts and crafts activities, and other extracurricular experiences aimed at fostering confidence and problem-solving abilities.
Odutola explained that the initiative seeks to create opportunities for girls to explore technology tools while developing practical skills that can prepare them for future academic and career opportunities.
“This year’s emphasis on AI, digital readiness and future-focused skills reflects the realities of a rapidly changing world filled with new opportunities for young people,” he said.
He noted that the programme’s theme, ‘Designing Tomorrow, Today,’ is intended to inspire participants to embrace innovation while building the confidence and competencies needed to thrive in the digital economy.
Odutola added that the camp goes beyond traditional classroom learning by exposing participants to real-world applications of technology and creative thinking.
“The She Creates programme is not only about acquiring knowledge; it is about empowering girls to discover their potential and prepare for the future,” he said.
He further stated that the initiative is focused on creating transformative experiences that encourage self-belief, innovation and leadership among young girls.
Organisers say the programme will continue to provide a platform for participants to develop relevant digital skills while nurturing the confidence required to succeed in an increasingly technology-driven world.
