My Resignation Not Admission of Guilt—Nnaji.

The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Mr Uche Nnaji, has said his resignation from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet is a personal decision and not an admission of guilt.

Nnaji stated this in a statement he personally signed and issued in Abuja.

The former minister, appointed in August 2023, resigned following controversies over allegations of certificate forgery.

He said that in the past week, he had been the target of an orchestrated and politically motivated campaign of falsehood and malicious attacks across various media platforms.

According to him, the allegations and media distortions caused personal distress and distracted him from performing his duties effectively.

He noted that he had spent five decades building a reputation grounded in hard work, honour, and service to humanity, and could not allow the controversies to overshadow the objectives of the Tinubu administration.

“My decision to step aside is therefore a personal choice, not an admission of guilt. It is a principled decision to respect the sanctity of due process and to preserve the integrity of the judicial proceedings currently before the court,” Nnaji said.

He expressed confidence that justice would eventually prevail.
