LGAN Honours Chief Mamah, Names Okwuosa AACT Ambassador

The Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN) has honoured Chief Emeka Mamah and appointed Ogechi Okwuosa as an All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT) Ambassador during a sensitisation visit to the Enugu Golf Club.

LGAN President, Lami Ahmed, who led the delegation, said the AACT serves as a key platform for advancing women’s golf and showcasing Nigeria’s presence in the sport across Africa.

She disclosed that the 2026 edition of the tournament, scheduled for November 2 to November 7 in Abuja, is expected to attract participation from more than 30 African countries.

According to her, the championship will also promote tourism, increase youth engagement, and elevate Nigeria’s profile in the global golf community.

During the visit, the association presented an award of appreciation to Chief Emeka Mamah, Chief Executive Officer of Ifesinachi Motors, in recognition of his contributions to the development of golf and support for women-focused initiatives.

In his response, Mamah expressed gratitude for the honour and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting programmes that promote women’s empowerment and the growth of the sport.

He pledged continued collaboration with stakeholders to ensure the successful hosting of the 2026 AACT.

Okwuosa was also officially decorated as an AACT Ambassador, a role LGAN said would help boost awareness and participation in the tournament.

Ahmed noted that the appointment would encourage more interest in golf and strengthen Nigeria’s competitiveness in continental events.

Okwuosa, in his remarks, appreciated the recognition and promised to use his new role to promote the championship across clubs and communities.

He added that hosting the tournament presents an opportunity to position Nigeria as a leading destination for golf in Africa.

The event highlights ongoing efforts to expand the reach of golf while encouraging greater participation, especially among women, across the country.
