Kogi State has expanded its health insurance programme to include judiciary workers, marking a step toward broader healthcare access for public servants.
The development was highlighted by the Executive Secretary of the Kogi State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Adekunle Aledare, during an advocacy visit to the state Chief Judge, Josiah Majebi, in Lokoja.
Aledare explained that the scheme is designed to improve access to quality medical services while shielding beneficiaries from high out-of-pocket healthcare costs.
He revealed that more than 2,000 judiciary staff have already been enrolled and are set to begin accessing healthcare services under the programme.
According to him, the agency is committed to expanding coverage to more government employees in line with the administration’s healthcare goals.
In response, the Chief Judge commended Governor Ahmed Ododo for the initiative, noting that it would significantly improve the welfare and productivity of workers in the state.
He assured that the judiciary would complete all necessary procedures to fully integrate its workforce into the scheme as quickly as possible.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria in the state, Emmanuel Waniko, pledged the union’s support in ensuring that members fully participate in the programme.
The initiative is expected to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve the overall wellbeing of workers across the state’s public sector.
