The Kano State Police Command has impounded 104 commercial motorcycles and 68 tricycles for violating the ban on passenger conveyance and the restriction on tricycle operations between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
The enforcement, carried out between Jan. 1 and Jan. 7, 2026, led to the arrest of 172 suspects, who have been charged to court. The affected areas include Kano Municipal, Gwale, Dala, Fagge, Nassarawa, Tarauni, Kumbotso, Ungogo, and Dawakin Kudu Local Government Areas.
The command’s spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, said the operation targeted commercial vehicles operating outside permitted hours. State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, commended the joint security agencies, including the Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA), and thanked the public for their support.
Authorities reiterated that the ban and restrictions remain in force and urged residents to comply.
