A four-day exhibition highlighting Afghanistan’s agricultural produce, livestock, and handicrafts opened in Kabul on Wednesday, the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock announced on Thursday.
According to the ministry, the fair was organised to promote local production and expand market opportunities for Afghan farmers and entrepreneurs.
The exhibition features 263 booths, including 56 run by women entrepreneurs, where farmers, livestock owners, and local businesses are showcasing their products to support the growth of these key sectors.
Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, Ataullah Omari, said the event reflects Afghanistan’s progress in agriculture and livestock development. He noted that government initiatives have strengthened local production and advanced the country’s goal of achieving food self-sufficiency.
Since taking power in August 2021, the Afghan government has placed agriculture at the centre of its economic strategy, aiming to tackle financial challenges and reduce dependence on imports.
