INEC Restarts Continuous Voter Registration in Oyo Ahead of 2027 Polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the resumption of the third phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Oyo State beginning May 11.

The disclosure was made on Wednesday in Ibadan by the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Prof. Adeniran Tella.

According to him, the exercise will take place across all 33 local government areas of the state and is expected to run until July 10.

Tella explained that the phase would cover both online pre-registration and physical registration for eligible voters.

He noted that the exercise followed the commission’s approved 2026 electoral timetable and would involve the movement of INEC Voter Enrollment Device (IVED) machines across registration centres located in the various local government offices.

The REC stated that registration activities and the deployment of the IVED machines would take place daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., excluding weekends and public holidays.

He encouraged prospective voters to visit the INEC state office in Ibadan or any of the commission’s offices across the local government areas to complete their registration within the scheduled period.

Tella also advised eligible residents who were yet to register as voters to make use of the opportunity before the exercise ends.

He added that individuals seeking to transfer their voting locations or change polling units could also do so during the registration period.

The electoral commission further urged registered voters who had not collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to visit the appropriate offices and pick them up ahead of future elections.
