Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir-Yusuf, has provided Sallah cows to persons with special needs and various social welfare homes across the state to support their celebration of Eid-el-Kabir.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Children and Persons with Special Needs, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi-Sani, said the intervention was designed to ensure that vulnerable groups observe the festive period with dignity and joy.
She made this known during the distribution exercise held at Nassarawa Children’s Home in Kano, adding that six categories of persons with special needs benefited from the gesture.
According to her, each group received one cow alongside ₦20,000 for transportation support. She listed the beneficiaries to include persons with spinal cord injuries, albinism, leprosy-affected individuals, as well as those with visual, hearing, and physical impairments.
Abdullahi-Sani said the initiative reflects the governor’s continued commitment to inclusivity and the welfare of vulnerable residents in the state, especially during festive celebrations.
She also disclosed that additional cows were donated to institutions such as Nassarawa Children’s Home, Remand Home Goron Dutse, Kwalli VVF Centre, and Tudun Maliki Torrey Home to enable residents to mark the Sallah celebration in a festive atmosphere.
The commissioner reaffirmed the ministry’s dedication to improving the wellbeing of vulnerable groups across Kano State.
Representatives of the beneficiary groups received the items on behalf of others and expressed appreciation to the state government for the support and inclusion.
In a related message, the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA), Dr Rahila Aliyu-Muktar, extended Eid-el-Kabir greetings to Muslims in Kano and beyond.
She encouraged Muslims to embrace the values of sacrifice, patience, and compassion associated with the celebration, describing Eid-el-Kabir as a reminder of faith, obedience, and devotion to God.
Dr Aliyu-Muktar also highlighted the importance of the festival in promoting unity, social justice, and collective responsibility toward humanity.
She commended the state government for its “Kano First” agenda, particularly efforts aimed at improving healthcare delivery and expanding access to quality medical services.
According to her, ongoing reforms in infrastructure, manpower development, and social protection are strengthening progress toward universal health coverage in the state.
She further appreciated the support of healthcare partners, enrollees, and service providers, reaffirming KSCHMA’s commitment to efficient and people-focused healthcare delivery.
Dr Aliyu-Muktar also called on residents to continue praying for peace, unity, and sustainable development in Kano State and Nigeria at large.
