The Help Women Foundation on Wednesday distributed food items to Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in Kwara State as part of activities marking the Ramadan and Lenten seasons.
The outreach took place in Ilorin, where the founder of the organisation, Ayobola Ipinlaiye, said the initiative formed part of the foundation’s annual Ramadan programme.
She explained that this year’s Ramadan coincided with Lent, making it important for the gesture to support both Muslim and Christian beneficiaries.
Ipinlaiye expressed her commitment to assisting less privileged women, particularly PWDs, stressing the need to show compassion to those facing hardship and food insecurity.
According to her, Nigeria’s cultural values promote empathy and encourage individuals to make meaningful contributions to society. She urged well-meaning Nigerians to extend support to vulnerable groups, noting that even small acts of generosity can have significant impact.
The founder stated that the foundation, established six years ago, focuses primarily on supporting vulnerable and abused women, especially those living with disabilities. She acknowledged the contributions of donors who supported the initiative.
Also speaking, the Chairperson of PWDs in Ilorin West Local Government Area, Lateefat Aromarado, commended the foundation for the gesture, noting that some indigent PWDs struggle to afford food during the Ramadan and Lenten fasting periods.
A total of 30 beneficiaries received food items including rice, beans, guinea corn, sugar, and garri during the distribution exercise.Tools
