The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna State Sector Command, on Monday inaugurated its 2025 Operation Zero Tolerance and deployed 1,470 personnel across the state to enhance road safety during the end-of-year festivities.
The Sector Commander, Mr Tijjani Iliyasu, inaugurated the operation while briefing officers and men of the command in Kaduna.
Iliyasu said the operation was an intensive end-of-year safety initiative aimed at reducing road traffic crashes, injuries and fatalities during the yuletide period.
“The FRSC has inaugurated the 2025 Operation Zero Tolerance, an intensive end-of-year safety operation aimed at reducing road traffic crashes, injuries and fatalities during the yuletide period,” he said.
According to him, the operation will run from Monday until Jan. 15, 2026.
He said the command had deployed 1,470 regular FRSC personnel, 401 Special Marshals, 30 patrol vehicles and two motorcycles for the exercise.
Iliyasu added that the deployment also included two heavy-duty tow trucks, one carrier tow truck, 10 ambulances and drones for effective traffic surveillance across major highways and critical corridors in Kaduna State.
The sector commander charged personnel to conduct themselves professionally and avoid any act capable of tarnishing the image of the corps.
He said the operation would focus on the enforcement of critical traffic offences, including non-use of passenger manifests, dangerous driving and overtaking, as well as speeding.
Other offences to be enforced include tyre violations, use of mobile phones while driving, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, seat belt violations, lane indiscipline, route violations and overloading of goods and passengers, among others.
Iliyasu said periodic mobile court sittings, strict enforcement and robust public enlightenment campaigns would be sustained throughout the period of the operation to ensure voluntary compliance by road users.
“To enhance prompt response to emergencies, the command has activated traffic camps and help areas at Rigachikun, Kwanan Farakwai, Birnin Yero and Gonin Gora to effectively manage traffic gridlocks and respond swiftly to road traffic crashes,” he said.
He added that roadside clinics had been fully equipped with trained personnel and medical consumables to attend to minor injuries of crash victims and members of nearby communities.
The sector commander urged members of the public to obey traffic rules and regulations and to leverage FRSC emergency and information platforms, including the 122 toll-free emergency line and National Traffic Radio 107.1 FM (Abuja) for road advisories.
He also highlighted the FRSC mobile application, which enables speed monitoring, black spot identification and reporting of erring drivers.
Iliyasu wished the people of Kaduna State a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year, while reassuring them of the corps’ commitment to ensuring safer roads throughout the festive period.
