The Federal Fire Service (FFS) in Kano State has reported rescuing 55 people and preventing the loss of property valued at N8.7 billion over the past year.
Kazeem Sholadoye, the state Command Controller, disclosed this in a statement released by the service’s Public Relations Officer, Al-Hassan Kantin, on Tuesday in Kano.
He noted that 19 lives were lost during the period due to fire incidents, road accidents, and other emergencies, while property worth N263 million was destroyed by fire in 2025.
Sholadoye added that the service attended 21 genuine emergency calls and responded to 107 false alarms within the same period.
He urged residents to exercise caution when handling fire, ensure electrical appliances are switched off before leaving home, and adopt safety measures to prevent avoidable accidents.
