Fans and colleagues of veteran Nollywood actor and lawmaker, Desmond Elliot, have taken to social media to celebrate him as he marked his 51st birthday on Wednesday.
the actor announced his birthday in a reflective post shared on his Instagram page.
In the post, Elliot expressed gratitude for life while dedicating the day to the memory of some colleagues who recently passed away.
“Today, I celebrate my 51st birthday with a heart full of gratitude and reflection.
“As I embrace this new year of life, I want to honour the memories of those we recently lost — Bukky Coker, Gbenga Adenowo and Omolara Obatolu.
“In their memory, I dedicate this special day to them, praying for comfort and strength for their families during this difficult time.
“I am truly grateful for the gift of life and the love of my family and friends. Here’s to cherishing every moment and holding our loved ones even closer,” he wrote.
Following the post, fans, well-wishers and colleagues from within and outside the entertainment industry flooded social media with goodwill messages and prayers.
An Instagram user, iam_osayandeogiemwonyi, wrote: “Happy birthday papa. May this new chapter be a new beginning of God’s innumerable blessings in your life.”
Another user, 25billiondollars, said: “This is so amazing. Happy birthday to you sir. God bless you.”

Several of Elliot’s colleagues in the motion picture industry also sent birthday wishes.

Ace comedian and actor, AY Makun, also wished him well, describing him as a brother.
Desmond Elliot, born on Feb. 4, 1974, in Lagos, began his acting career in television soap operas such as Everyday People, One Too Much and Saints and Sinners.
He later rose to prominence in Nollywood, featuring in over 200 films including Men Who Cheat, Yahoo Millionaire and 30 Days in Atlanta.
Elliot has received several award nominations, including an African Movie Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in 2006 and multiple nominations at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
Beyond acting, he ventured into politics in 2014 and was elected to represent Surulere Constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2015.
He is also known for his advocacy work, particularly initiatives focused on tackling child illiteracy in Nigeria and across Africa.
