Elumelu Celebrates Women’s Role in Nation Building on International Women’s Day

A former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, has emphasised that women’s nurturing and stabilising roles in the home remain fundamental to the growth, unity and progress of communities and nations.

Elumelu, who represented Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the 9th National Assembly, made the remark in a message to commemorate the 2026 International Women’s Day.

He lauded the enduring love, sacrifice and care shown by women, describing them as the backbone of families and moral pillars of society.

According to him, women across the three arms of government — the Executive, Legislature and Judiciary — have continued to demonstrate strength, resilience, competence and dedication to public service.

Elumelu also acknowledged the contributions of notable women whose leadership and humanitarian efforts have positively impacted society.

He particularly appreciated Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for her strength of character and initiatives aimed at advancing the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

He also commended the wife of the Delta State Governor, Tobore Oborevwori, for her commitment and support toward the MORE Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, noting that her contributions have complemented the administration’s developmental efforts.

Elumelu further paid tribute to Awele Elumelu, recognising her leadership in the health sector and humanitarian service.

He also expressed appreciation to his wife, Ngozi Elumelu, whom he described as a strong pillar and source of inspiration in his personal life and public service.

The former lawmaker also thanked the women of the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in Delta State for their continued support for the administration of President Tinubu and the Delta State Government.

He assured them of his continued commitment to working with them to advance the development of the constituency, stressing that women would remain central to his vision of service to humanity.
