A major Eid-el-Kabir relief effort has reached hundreds of vulnerable households across the Daura Emirate in Katsina State, following the distribution of livestock and food items by a prominent community leader.
The District Head of Dankum in Baure Local Government Area, Katsina State, Alhaji Lawal Sade, shared 13 cows and 325 bags of 50kg rice to support low-income families across all 12 local government areas within the Daura Emirate ahead of the Sallah celebration.
Sade, who also holds the title of Sarkin Fadan Daura and founded the Katsina North Youths Development and Awareness Initiative (KNYDAI), said the intervention was designed to ease the burden of the festive period for struggling households.
At the official launch held in Daura on Tuesday, the Emir of Daura, Umar Farouk-Umar, praised the initiative, describing it as a timely act of generosity and social responsibility.
Represented by the Salanken Daura, Alhaji Salisu Yusuf, the monarch noted that the support had brought comfort and renewed hope to many families during the festive season.
He also expressed appreciation to the Katsina State Government, led by Governor Dikko Radda, for fostering an environment that encourages charity, youth engagement, and community-driven development. The governor was represented at the event by his Senior Special Adviser on Politics, Alhaji Ya’u Umar-Gwajo-Gwajo.
According to the emir, the organising committee of KNYDAI, headed by Sheikh Imam Al-Jazira, ensured the smooth execution of the programme.
He further described Sade as a forward-thinking and compassionate leader whose actions consistently reflect concern for community welfare.
The emir highlighted several of his previous interventions, including the provision of solar-powered water systems and boreholes in Dankum, construction of a central Juma’at mosque and other places of worship, and the distribution of over 3,000 moringa and economic tree seedlings to women.
Through the Baraka Memorial Foundation (BMF), Sade has also reportedly facilitated school construction projects, scholarships, support for religious activities, renovation of cemeteries, and drainage infrastructure development.
He added that the philanthropist had earlier distributed about 300 rams across the Daura zone to support families during Eid.
The emir urged other affluent individuals, political figures, and community stakeholders to emulate similar acts of generosity by investing in social welfare and local development projects.
He concluded by praying that Almighty Allah continues to grant Sade the wisdom, strength, and resources needed to sustain his humanitarian efforts.
