Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has called on residents to reflect deeply on the values of sacrifice, obedience, love, and compassion associated with the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
In a statement released on Wednesday in Osogbo by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor extended his congratulations to Muslims in the state and across Nigeria on the occasion of the festival.
Adeleke described Eid-el-Kabir as a spiritually significant period that emphasizes devotion to Almighty Allah and reinforces the importance of peace, unity, and kindness within society.
He noted that the teachings of the festival align with his administration’s focus on service delivery, fairness, and improving the welfare of citizens across Osun State.
The governor encouraged residents to take advantage of the festive period to evaluate ongoing government projects in areas such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, workers’ welfare, and social development.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and sustained development across all communities in the state.
According to him, “As you move through our towns and communities, I encourage you to observe the various projects being executed. We remain committed to serving the people.”
Adeleke also reaffirmed his government’s dedication to promoting religious harmony, inclusiveness, and equal opportunities for all citizens, regardless of faith or political background.
He urged Muslim faithful to uphold the virtues of patience, generosity, tolerance, and sacrifice as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim, noting that these values are vital for building a stable and prosperous society.
The governor further stressed his determination to continue development efforts across the state, stating that governance must always reflect the needs and aspirations of the people.
He cautioned against actions that could exploit religious or political differences to create division, emphasizing that Osun’s progress depends on unity and collective effort.
Adeleke also called on residents to support the less privileged during the celebration, noting that compassion is a core message of Eid-el-Kabir.
He concluded by urging citizens to continue praying for peace, unity, and progress in Osun State and Nigeria, expressing optimism that sustained cooperation would lead to a better future for all.
