Kafanchan, Kaduna State, May 31, 2026 The Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has assured that security agencies are intensifying operations aimed at securing the release of individuals abducted in Southern Kaduna and other parts of the country.
Musa gave the assurance on Saturday during the Southern Kaduna Festival, where he was honoured with the Grand Commander Award for his contributions to national security.
He noted that the Armed Forces of Nigeria, alongside other security agencies, remain fully committed to safeguarding lives and property across the country.
The minister acknowledged the continued presence of insecurity in some regions but stressed that coordinated efforts were ongoing to restore peace and stability nationwide.
He called for stronger collaboration between citizens, communities, and security agencies, describing unity as a key factor in addressing security challenges.
According to him, collective action remains essential in overcoming threats to national peace and development.
Musa also reiterated that security is fundamental to economic growth, education, healthcare delivery, and overall national progress.
He assured Nigerians that the military remains focused on protecting the country’s territorial integrity while responding to emerging security threats.
The minister urged communities to embrace peace, tolerance, dialogue, and mutual understanding, noting that sustainable development can only thrive in a peaceful environment.
He further advised young people to pursue education, skills development, and productive ventures while avoiding violence, criminal activities, extremism, and substance abuse.
Musa called on government institutions, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and private sector actors to continue creating opportunities that empower youths and reduce vulnerability to crime.
He commended community leaders, women groups, youth organisations, and religious bodies for their role in promoting peace and social cohesion.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee of the festival, Rear Adm. Fergus Bobai (Rtd), said the event had strengthened unity and highlighted the cultural heritage of Southern Kaduna.
He added that the success of the festival demonstrated the power of collective effort in overcoming challenges and promoting peaceful coexistence.
Bobai expressed optimism that the festival would continue to expand in impact and relevance in the years ahead.
