Cleric calls for Tinubu’s return in 2027 polls

Religious leader Ramas-Asuzu Okoye has publicly expressed support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, emphasizing the need for continuity in ongoing reforms.

Okoye, Supreme Head of the Liberation Temple of Absolute God in Nri, made the remarks while speaking to journalists near Awka on Sunday.

Also known as the ‘Aka Ji Ofo Igbo’, he noted that Tinubu requires more time to complete economic and structural reforms that are already showing positive results.

Describing the President as “a man on a mission,” Okoye highlighted Tinubu’s 2023 election victory as a testament to his resilience and determination.

He argued that it is reasonable to allow the President to continue his agenda and see ongoing projects through to completion.

On the topic of an Igbo presidency, Okoye stated that it will come “when the time is right,” but insisted the moment is not now.

“In 2023, many believed Peter Obi had the advantage, but Tinubu won despite economic challenges and online opposition.

“After careful reflection, the message is clear: Tinubu should be allowed to continue in 2027 to finalize his reforms,” he said.

Okoye urged the President to prioritize national unity and inclusion, uphold federal principles, and ensure equitable political appointments across all regions.

He also called for stronger attention to security and the rising cost of living, stressing that protecting citizens and ensuring their welfare remains the government’s primary duty.

Commenting on local politics, he said any disagreements between former governor Peter Obi and Governor Chukwuma Soludo are normal, praising both as exemplary leaders of Anambra State.
