China has expressed strong support for the United States’ proposal aimed at resolving the conflict in Gaza, urging both sides to immediately agree to a lasting ceasefire and facilitate the release of all detainees.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakan made the statement on Tuesday, emphasizing Beijing’s commitment to peaceful resolution efforts.
He stressed that China endorses initiatives designed to reduce hostilities between Israel and Palestine.
“China upholds the principle of Palestinian self-governance and strongly backs the implementation of a two-state solution,” Guo said.
The U.S. recently unveiled a detailed 20-point plan intended to bring an end to the ongoing Gaza hostilities.
Key elements of the plan include the swift release of hostages held by Hamas in return for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.
It also proposes a phased Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, with governance temporarily handed to a Palestinian technocratic administration under international supervision.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed his acceptance of the U.S. proposal on Monday.
As a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, China emphasized its readiness to support diplomatic and multilateral efforts to ensure peace in the region.
