The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has launched a major empowerment and economic support initiative to celebrate his 55th birthday.
A statement from his Special Adviser on Strategic Communication and Media Relations, Mr. Bolaji Tunji, released in Abuja on Tuesday, provided details of the programme.
Tunji quoted Adelabu as saying the initiative, executed through the Bayo Adelabu Foundation (BAF), will build on the foundation’s annual tradition of giving back to society, but with broader reach and greater impact this year.
“This year’s programme is designed to show gratitude to the people of Oyo State and well-wishers across the country, in response to the overwhelming support and goodwill messages received during my birthday celebrations,” Adelabu said.
The minister highlighted that the initiative represents a way to thank Almighty Allah for guidance, protection, and blessings throughout his personal and professional journey.
He also expressed heartfelt appreciation for the support he has received, calling it both humbling and motivating.
Adelabu stressed that the empowerment programme demonstrates his commitment to community development, investing in people, and fostering socio-economic growth in Oyo State in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“The encouragement and love I have received have strengthened my resolve to work towards a prosperous Oyo State. This initiative is intended to provide tangible support and open pathways for sustainable development for our communities,” he added.
He explained that the programme will be rolled out in weekly phases to maintain order and ensure meaningful engagement with beneficiaries.
The initiative will reach various groups, including market women, traders, artisans, farmers, students, widows, orphanages, and persons living with disabilities.
Additionally, faith-based communities—spanning Muslims, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and traditional worshippers—will also benefit from the support scheme, ensuring inclusivity and broad community impact.
