BEDC Chief Commends Appointment of UBTH’s First Female CMD

The Benin Electricity Distribution Company Plc (BEDC) has commended the Federal Government for appointing Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu as Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH).

BEDC Managing Director, Jonathan Lawani, in a statement, lauded President Bola Tinubu for what he described as a landmark decision.

He congratulated Ize-Iyamu on making history as UBTH’s first female CMD, noting that the appointment reflects her resilience, leadership, and outstanding professional record.

Lawani, a former Commissioner for Environment and Sustainability, said her achievement reinforces the belief that gender is no barrier to excellence or public service.

“Her story will inspire professionals to serve with integrity and lead with courage across all sectors,” he said, adding that BEDC wished her success as she begins a new era of medical leadership at UBTH.
